Are you aware that Filipino CPAs can apply for a CPA—Individual Limited License in Maryland?
 
The State Board of Public Accountancy of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation may issue a limited license for the practice of  Certified Public Accountancy to any applicant who is:
1. Licensed to practice public accountancy in another state or foreign country
2. Not a resident of Maryland
3. Does not have a place of business in the state

Text Box: In their desire to encourage the CPAs to activate their membership in our organization, the Board of Directors of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) during their meeting on January 28, 2006, approved the assessment of TWO THOUSAND PESOS (P2,000.00)  only as membership dues for 2006 and prior years. 
 
Thus, even if you have been delinquent with the payment of your dues for more than two years, you will only have to pay the said amount in order to be a member in good standing again. According to Minda Ledesma, PICPA’s National Executive Director, the amnesty will run until June 30, 2006.In 
Text Box: this regard, AFAA NY Chapter is offering assistance to Filipino CPAs here in the US to renew their PICPA membership. Using the PICPA membership form attached to this newsletter, please send the same to AFAA NY office at 97-45 Queens Blvd.,  Ste. 1030 Rego Park, New York 11374,  along with your 1X1 picture and your check payable to AFAA NY for $45. The amount is inclusive of mailing and handling fee. 
 
Being a member in good standing of PICPA is also a requirement in the application for a CPA Limited License in Maryland. (see related story, column 3 of this page)
