Text Box: 1. Miss Philippines, Precious Lara Quigaman won the Ms. International      pageant recently.

She was asked a very challenging   question. It goes:

Q: "what do you say to the people of the world who have typecasted Filipinos as nannies?"

A: "I take no offense on being typecasted as a nanny. But I do take offense that the educated people of the world have somehow denegrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is. Let me tell you what she is. She is someone who gives more than she takes. She is   someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you - your child, the elderly, yourself. She is the one who has made a living out of caring and    loving other people. So, to those who have typecasted us as nannies, thank you. It is a testament to the loving and caring   culture of the Filipino people. And for that, I am forever proud and grateful of my roots and culture."
2. Duchess Marie Cruz brought home the gold medal in the   November 2005   licensure      examinations for Certified      Internal Auditors (CIA) by     obtaining the   highest overall rating among 21,000 examinees worldwide.
       Cruz obtained her bachelor’s degree in       accountancy, magna cum laude, from the University of the East. She passed the October 2002 national     licensure

Text Box: examinations for certified public accountants. She is now a senior auditor of the Business Risk Services Group, the unit that handles internal audit and technology risk management engagements in one of the big accounting firms in the Philippines.

3. The founder of AFAA , Nicasio Dadia has helped more than 100 Filipino CPA professionals to get a permanent residence in the US thru sponsorship by his company of 23 years,Dadia and Company, now Dadia Valles & Co, CPAs LLP. Mr. Dadia also pioneered in establishing independent firm practice specializing in government contracts. Prior to it, he served as partner of Lucas, Tucker and Company where he helped design audit programs to audit government contracts that became the standards of audit programs for contract audits. Currently, he is the Executive Director of NCPACA (National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants) and the Adviser of AFAA (Association of Filipino American Accountants) and the managing partner of Dadia Valles & Co. CPAs LLP.

4. The Co-founder of AFAA, Reynaldo Padilla is an adjunct faculty member of accounting and auditing at CUNY York College. Previously, he served on the New York State Board for Public Accountancy , the first and only Asian to sit in the Board. At present, he is the managing partner of Padilla and Co. CPAs. Mr. Padilla is also one of the six trustees appointed for the Ayala Foundation USA Board of Directors. The Board is headed by Chairman Fenando Zobel de Ayala and President Victoria Garchitorena.
